Every cheetah matters. Every collar helps us understand them a little better. And every piece of knowledge brings us closer to protecting their future.
We’re proud to share that CF39, a female cheetah, has been successfully fitted with a tracking collar in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. Her cub, CF52, was with her, making this encounter a particularly special reminder of what is at stake in cheetah conservation.
Alongside the collaring, blood samples were collected for genetic testing. This information helps our conservation teams build a clearer picture of cheetah populations, their movements and the challenges they face in the wild.
Once CF39 had recovered from the procedure, she immediately began contact calling for her cub. Before long, mother and cub were reunited and back together in the wild.
For us, moments like this are about more than one cheetah. They represent hope for a species that needs our protection. The data gathered through this work helps guide meaningful conservation action and gives us a better chance of ensuring that cheetahs like these have a future in the wild.
