A mother and her cubs

Forever Wild Foundation is proud to support Cheetah Conservation on Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park in partnership with Wildlife ACT and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.

During a Vulture aerial survey at the end of August, the Wildlife ACT team made an incredible discovery from the helicopter: a female Cheetah with seven cubs on Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

This survey was undertaken in collaboration with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, The Bateleurs, and pilot Martin Schulze, and shows just how powerful both collaborative conservation and air surveillance can be.

This sighting is particularly exciting because this female had not been seen since 2023 after moving into the wilderness section of the protected area. To see her again, and with such a large number of cubs, is a truly positive sign for the species in this landscape.

Each Cheetah visual recorded adds to the understanding of this Vulnerable species and contributes to ongoing monitoring efforts across Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, contributing to the regional and national management of this iconic species.
