Wildlife ACT, headed by Chris Kelly has been involved with the monitoring, relocation and conservation of endangered species for decades. His organisation works with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (the National Parks authority) and their environmental department.
The flagship reserve within Ezemvelo is The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi park which came to prominence in the 1960’s with the successful conservation of both the white and black rhino. It the oldest National Park in Southern Africa and was once the hunting preserve of Chaka—king of the Zulu nation.
It is within Hluhluwe-Imfolozi boundaries that Ezemvelo and ACT work tirelessly to protect the numerous species and the environment. It was Forever Wild’s privilege to support their efforts with transmitter equipment to assist in monitoring the individuals carrying collars.
It is only through the generosity of donors and the professionalism of ACT and Ezemvelo officers that the cheetah population in Zululand has risen like the Phoenix.
