Back on the Radar

In a vast reserve like Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, monitoring Cheetahs is no easy task. Expansive wilderness areas that are difficult to access mean we often rely on technology to track these elusive cats.

Recently, an exciting discovery was made – a female Cheetah last seen as a sub-adult in February 2022. After nearly two years without a sighting, confirming that she was still part of the population was a major milestone.

The team managed to safely dart and collar her, and she was quickly reunited with her cubs. This collaring is especially important, not only due to her elusive nature, but because it now allows us to closely monitor her journey and contribute valuable insights to the wider cheetah metapopulation.

We’re thrilled to be able to follow this remarkable female and her little ones – and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as their story unfolds.
